Mouzon_Leroux - L'Ascendant Solera Grand Cru

6 miles from the Pacific, one of the closest to the ocean in Santa Barbara County. Biodynamically grown grapes, meticulous winemaking and a combination of three Dijon clones create a wine that captures both vintage and site. Alluring dark fruit, forest floor and spice fill the nose. Soft delicate dark fruit and fine tannin fill out the rich palate.

Alc:
13.2%.

Style:
Medium bodied, aromatic and silky red wine with earthy tones.

County:
USA

Region:
Sta Rita HIlls, California (Santa Barbara County)

Varieties:
Pinot Noir.

Vines:
Duvarita (biodynamically farmed). Sandy soils, big exposure to the Pacific winds.

Vinification:
20% whole cluster, 6-8 days cold soak, 12 days on the skins, 22% New Oak, 10 months ageing on lees, no fining or filtration, basket press, gravity movements.

Case Size:
6x75cl.

Suggestion:
Allow time in decanter for a little aeration. Like all Ernst’s Pinot’s, serve lightly chilled for greater aromatics and precision of fruit flavours. Beautiful and graceful on its own, even better with lighter red meat dishes.
